You are in the middle of a cross country move, or maybe you are just moving to a different part of the city. You have hired the best  Moving Company in the City that you could find, and now it is moving day. What are the things that you need for this move?

But the first question on your mind right now would be, why do you need this bag in the first place? Haven’t you just spent six weeks of your life packing your stuff up in cardboard boxes? Yes, you have, but there is a final separate bag that you need to carry yourself lest it gets lost in the madness that is moving.

The size of this bag is directly proportional to the magnitude of your move. If your move is intercity, then you can just pack a gym bag, but if its a cross country move, then you will need a bigger bag. This necessity arises from the fact that you’re going to have limited access to your belongings for a slightly extended period of time.

This bag should contain everything you could need to aid a smoother move and settling into your new house. Contrary to what people say, i.e., pack light, your essentials bag is the one place where that rule can be relaxed. You should have everything you possibly need when you move and are not running around like a headless chicken in case you aren’t carrying something.

The list varies from person to person, but we have a basic list given below, feel free to add something if you want.

1. The Money and The Key to Unlock Your New House

On a typical afternoon, when absolutely nothing is happening in your life, it is easy enough to misplace your wallet as well as the keys. Now I urge you to add on the craziness of a move to the mix, and I’m sure you can see how much more complicated the scenario just became.

If you have a purse where you put these, well, and good, otherwise make sure you put them in the essentials bag.

2. Medications

As a rule, ensure that you get your monthly prescription filled before you leave this pharmacy. Finding a new one in the new location might be a little tough, and prescription medications are tough enough to replace as is. So, ensure you put your medicine in the essentials bag.

3. Important Documents

Usually, people put their documents in a safe, but during a move have them on hand is a wise idea. The list of documents includes your birth certificate, titles, social security cards, passports, registrations, and any other legal document that you could be asked for and have trouble replacing.

4. Electronics

Anything that you use on a regular basis should find its way to your essentials bag. This includes your phone, laptop, and any other piece of technology that could possibly need during the move. Also, a power bank and your charger should be in there too.

5. Basic Toiletries

Finding a store to stock up on necessary toiletries after a stressful day of moving is just about as much fun as it sounds. Make your life easier and ensure you pack all the essential toiletries that you could need once you land in your new place. This is also an excellent time to use the travel packs that you have been hoarding.

Also, don’t forget the toilet paper.

6. Small tools Kit

You won’t start putting up nails on your first day there, but certain things like a screwdriver, scissors, measuring tape, and wrench are always an excellent addition to an essentials bag.

7. Pet and Kids Things

Yes, I clubbed them together; it is not a big deal. If you have pets, it is crucial that you carry the food for their meals and anything else that you could need for their well-being in your bag.

Kids are also dependent on you for their well being and keeping that in your mind, you should pack a couple of games and toys to keep them occupied.

A moving essentials bag can be a lifesaver in case you get stuck in a situation where you are running late or need something urgently. Make additions to this list as you see fit, and do not forget to carry your clothes, which I did not mention as it is a given.
